LG CNS (064400, CEO Hyun Shin-Gyoon) is joining hands with the Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) to drive AX (AI Transformation) among small and mid-sized manufacturers.
On the 17th, at the KBIZ headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, LG CNS signed the "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Discover a Large–Small Win-Win Cooperation Model for Spreading AI across Small and Mid-Sized Businesses," with key figures from both sides in attendance, including LG CNS CEO President Hyun Shin-Gyoon and KBIZ Chairman Kim Ki-mun.
This agreement was arranged to close the gap in AI utilization between large and small enterprises, in step with the government's drive to spread AX across small and mid-sized businesses. Through support totaling 4.2 billion KRW over two years across three areas — AX education, technology support, and distribution/marketing support — LG CNS will help strengthen the competitiveness of small and mid-sized businesses. In particular, it will concentrate its capabilities on supporting small and mid-sized manufacturers that struggle with AX due to shortages of data and skilled talent.
Technology support will be pursued in connection with the government's "Large–Small Win-Win AX Lead Model Program," newly established this year, by building an AX lead model in the manufacturing field. For the small and mid-sized manufacturers selected by KBIZ, LG CNS will commit its technological capabilities and specialized personnel across the entire process — from building data collection systems on the manufacturing floor, to developing and applying AI models, to system integration.
In particular, to systematize the fragmented data of manufacturing sites and to relieve the workforce shortages of small and mid-sized businesses, LG CNS will build a "Manufacturing AX Starter Package" that combines a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) with a manufacturing-specialized Large Language Model (LLM). Through this, it will turn work standards, equipment manuals, and the like into digital assets, and implement a natural-language-based decision-making system to solve the technology-gap problem of small and mid-sized manufacturers.
In the education support area, LG CNS will run AX education so that the management of small and mid-sized businesses, including CEOs, can deepen their understanding of AX and take the lead in adopting AX going forward. So that companies can find the answer to the greatest concern of small and mid-sized businesses — "which tasks, which AI technology to adopt, and how to pursue AX" — LG CNS will define each company's core problem and then provide education and consulting that draws out concrete, actionable plans.
LG CNS will also support the expansion of distribution and marketing using AI- and mathematical-optimization-based digital marketing optimization platforms. To support 100 small and mid-sized companies in entering overseas markets, it will provide "LG Optapex," specialized for Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce platform, helping them list on Amazon and other global distribution platforms and run advertising efficiently. In the domestic market, it will use its marketing optimization platform "MOP (Marketing Optimization Platform)" to help small and mid-sized businesses improve advertising efficiency on channels such as Naver Shopping and strengthen their digital marketing competitiveness.
LG CNS and KBIZ will begin identifying the small and mid-sized businesses to be supported, and will work to further refine the operating plan for the initiative.
KBIZ Chairman Kim Ki-mun said, "We hope that combining the manufacturing data and the on-site data across various industries that KBIZ has accumulated over the years with LG CNS's AI technology will lead to real AI transformation," adding, "We will do our utmost so that, with the AX-leading company LG CNS providing support and KBIZ — which spans the entire industrial community — backing it up, the large–small win-win model can take root at the sites of small and mid-sized businesses."
LG CNS CEO President Hyun Shin-Gyoon said, "The AX transformation of small and mid-sized businesses is a task directly tied to the competitiveness of our industry as a whole," and added, "We will share the AX technology and expertise LG CNS has accumulated with the sites of small and mid-sized businesses without reservation, and — accompanying them through the entire process from education to manufacturing innovation to marketing expansion — become a partner that drives the real growth of small and mid-sized businesses."
